Obaseki not running Edo as sole administrator, APC tells PDP

Governor Godwin Obaseki
BENIN—Edo State All Progressives Congress, APC, has described the state Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, allegation that Governor Godwin Obaseki was running the state as a sole administrator as an allegation borne “out of frustration.”

State Chairman of the APC, Mr Anslem Ojezua, who was reacting to the comment by the state chairman of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, that the Obaseki administration was confused and as a result was running the state like a sole administrator having not appointed commissioners, said the problem with the PDP in the state was that it has never believed in adequate planning and has persistently failed to come up with a policy that will better the lives of the people.

He said: “Under PDP, we were like a rudderless ship. People occupied positions for the sake of it whether qualified and prepared for such positions or not. There was no manual, no plan, roadmap, milestones or timelines for commissioners to work with. When Adams Oshiomhole came into office, there was a departure from the past. He set up a team called Economic Team. And that is the foundation we are enjoying today.”

“It was that team that boosted the IGR of the state from N300million to N1.5billion and Obaseki has come to continue with that planning. He is trying to improve on the culture of planning. He wrote to the party telling us positions that are vacant. He has told us the type of persons he requires in his government and we have, in accordance with his requests, developed a detailed guideline, and put together a group of nominees, which we have passed to him.”
